From the West

My beloved Brethren:

The Finance Committee had its second meeting on February 23, 2023, at 7 pm via Zoom. I will present the report at our meeting on March 2, 2023. If any brother has any questions about our finances, please do not hesitate to contact me.

A bit of Masonic education, I encourage my Brothers to read or re-read our Masonic Etiquette (click here GL208). Sharing the item about Aged and Infirm :

"AGED AND INFIRM: Members of a Lodge who, because of age or infirmity, find it either difficult or impossible to attend at the assemblies of their Brethren stand in need of special consideration at the hand of their Lodge; and because of their condition, no others are so peculiarly appreciative of the kindness or courtesies that may be shown them. A Lodge will maintain its contacts with them unbroken; will see that they are visited; will send them messages on special occasions, and perhaps encourage its members to remember them now and again with appropriate gifts or other reminders. Some Lodges follow the admirable custom of setting aside once each year a “Patriarch’s Night” in honor of its aged members; others make it a practice at certain intervals to send a vehicle for such as are physically able to attend Lodge, but have not the means."

Let's keep our Fraternity strong and increase our communication among Brothers. If you want to help or need anything, reach out! The get-together at Cinemark Bistrot on February 25, 2023, Saturday, was an excellent opportunity to meet our Brothers outside of the Lodge. I encourage us always meet.

I wish you all a fabulous March and hope to see you all in Lodge.

Fraternally,

S.W. Rafael Nioac de Salles

From the South

Greetings from the South Brethren!

I would like to extend a big "thank you" to everyone who helped with the EA degree on 2/16. From the meal to the degree, without the help of everyone, the evening would not have gone as smoothly as it did.

I'm looking forward to another month of food and friendship with you brothers. As always, we do our best to provide you guys with new meals to enjoy. If anyone has any comments, or suggestions, please let me know.

Fraternally,

J.W. Nick Richard

From the Secretary

Fraternal Greeting Brethren. Our Grand Communication is going to be held at the Rosen Plaza Hotel in Orlando again this year. The Hotel has a very large ball room which accommodates all the brethren throughout Florida.

If you have not been to a Grand Communication, you may consider attending. To be among so many Masons and to see the beautiful opening ceremonies is certainly a pleasure and one that make you proud that you are a member of the Craft.

Additional information will be communicated once we are given word that hotel reservations are being accepted. You want to book a room early so that you can stay “where the action is” and not at a neighboring hotel/motel.

For those who have not yet remitted 2023 dues, please do so as these funds are needed to operate the lodge. So far this year, we have been off to a great start as a many Brothers have already remitted as well as including voluntary donations.

The Let Your Pennies Make Good Sense (LYPMGS) donation of merely $7.30 cents, two cents a day for a year, helps our premiere charity The Masonic Home of Florida operate. Of course, many Brother’s donate more as they see the value in what our Masonic Home offers of elderly Brothers and Sisters.

A word of congratulations to our very recently Raised Brother Ben Cohen, Jan.28, 2023.

Congratulations also go to those Brother’s who worked with Brother Cohen on his catechism during the Three Degrees. Brother Cohen has already earned a Silver Proficiency Card by demonstrating, before our District Instructor, all Three Degree Catechism. This, being an amazing challenge, he is now going to stand proficient for a Green Proficiency Card as well. He will demonstrate opening and closing lodge in the Three Degrees. R:.H:. Musumeci as well as all Brother’s expect great work from this young man. At 19 years old, ending his junior year at college entering his senior year soon. When you next meet Brother Ben, you may want to congratulate him.

Equally so, all our recently Raised Masons have been doing exceptionally well. The Stations and Places at the recent EA Degree were occupied by other than them. Brother Nick Richard did so well as Worshipful Master. The energy and enthusiasm these Brothers are putting forth is Freemasonry’s future and for Boca Delray 171 it is a “Bright Future”.

From the District Instructor

My Brothers,

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and wish you and your families a happy a healthy 2023. We are in a fortunate position as a Lodge to be growing in numbers and enthusiasm, and that is because of the hard work that all of you do. I thank you for that hard work and for challenging us all to do better in 2023. We have a Master Mason Degree scheduled for Saturday, January 28, 2023, that I hope you can attend and invite you to become part of our exceptional Degree team in the future. We will most likely have a Fellow Craft Degree in February and an Entered Apprentice Degree in March. I hope that you will not only attend these events in support of our Brothers but be more involved in Initiating, Passing, and Raising the Brothers of our Lodge.

Again thank you for the work you have done to make Boca Delray Lodge a leader in not only our District but the entire state of Florida.

Fraternally & Sincerely,

R:.H:. Sal Musumeci, DI

Upcoming District 25

Master Mason Degree teams

(part 1)

My Brothers,

The statewide Degree competition for this year will be held for Master Mason Degree (part 1). Our goal is to have multiple teams competing from the 25th Masonic District. These teams can be from each Lodge, or we can have multiple Lodges getting together to form one team. If you are not totally proficient in this Degree, please do not be worried. We will have multiple practices at different Lodges around the District to get everyone up to speed. At these practices, we will be having in-depth instruction on all the ritual and esoteric work in part 1 of Master Mason Degree as mandated by the Committee on Work. Any Master Mason in good standing is eligible to participate, and it will provide you an enhanced knowledge of the ritual and floorwork of Master Mason Degree as well as an increase in comradery with the Brothers of our District. Please reach out to me if you have any interest in joining the Degree teams and representing the 25th Masonic District.

Strength in Numbers

Power in Education

My Brothers,

In order to improve your Masonic knowledge, try taking Master Mason 1 2 3 exams On the Grand Lodge website. It’s an excellent method to learn to use the Masonic Digest and Mentors Manual. Just complete the three Master Mason Examinations, offered by the Grand Lodge. These examinations have proven very popular as they produce more

friendships, more knowledge of Florida masonry, better-informed Brothers, and an increase in Lodge attendance.

Also, they are MANDATORY for anyone sitting in the chair of Worshipful Master, Senior

Warden or Junior Warden.

Follow the instructions below:

2. Click on “Education”

3. Take Exams 1, 2 & 3

My Brothers,

I would like to invite you all to Open Books and Schools of Instruction this and every Saturday. Please join us for the education, brotherhood, and a gourmet breakfast!!!!

Entered Apprentices and Fellow Crafts are welcome with a RSVP from their Worshipful Master to me.

When: Every Saturday School of Instruction Open Books Every third Saturday

Time: 9:00 am – noon

modules.

The Grand Lodge of Florida provides Master Mason Examinations to be open book type exams designed to give any Master Mason the opportunity to increase his knowledge of some of the Ancient Tenets, Rules, and Regulations of Masonry.
