From the East
My Brothers, As we approach the end of 2022, and get ready to install the next Worshipful Master and Officers of Boca-Delray No. 171, I would like to take a moment and try to express in words how honored I am that you Brothers have entrusted me, believed in me, and supported me as your Worshipful Master for the past two years. Nothing I have done or completed would have been possible if not for the assistance and support of you all. For this I’m grateful. You have heard the term, it takes a village, well it really does my Brothers. There were a few Brothers that went above and beyond, Brothers I knew I could go to for advice in order to make some of the hard decisions that came up in my two years, these Brothers who I had the highest respect for and whom without none of my success would have been possible.
R∴W∴ Mike Sinatra ( Lodge Secretary), who kept me on track and put up with me for two years. Without his guidance the Lodge would not run as smoothly as it appears. His duty is truly the most difficult and at times the most thankless job, yet his love for our Lodge and the Fraternity knows no bounds. He continues his efforts year after year, and has seen many Brothers through their year in the East. Thank you so much R∴W∴ Sinatra for your guidance and respect. R∴H∴ Salvatore Musumeci. My Brothers, R∴H∴ Musumeci, on top of his district duties as the District Instructor, has stepped in and filled the role as mentor to so many, and has been a great Brother and friend to me throughout my Masonic career. His love for our Lodge and the fraternity has no end. I often question him on how he has time to do all that he gets accomplished day to day not only for our Lodge but the fraternity. Without his guidance in driving our degree team, we would not have been able to accomplish initiating 19 candidates and raising 12 Brothers as Master Masons over the last two years. R∴W∴ Rex Bradford, for all his guidance and wisdom. R∴W∴ Bradford has always been there when I called him, and never told me no when I needed him. His love for our Lodge is unmatched. My love for you all will never waver and words can not begin to describe how I feel for you all. May happiness and love fill you all and peace be with you. You are truly my Brother's keeper.
Coming up as a young Master Mason, I was fortunate enough to have these great mentors and even some that are no longer here. These mentors / advisors guided, and taught me what it meant to be a Mason and to respect those Brothers who have earned it, especially our Officers and Past Masters, because it was those Brothers who came into the Lodge 3-4 times a week, and kept the wheels turning, handled the day to day operations, 90% of which happens outside of our meetings. It is a daily operation that is done out of love, passion and respect. I’d like to thank our incoming Worshipful Master Bro. Alex Ferrari, and our incoming Senior Warden Rafael Salles, for their hard and dedicated work over the past two year. I know from working with them directly that the Lodge is in good hands. They have some great innovative ideas that will keep in place our traditions, while keeping the Lodge and fraternity moving forward into the future, which will help us bring in new younger candidates and retain them as well. When I sit in the East and look down the line, I see nothing but progress. If we could get more Lodges to follow in our footsteps, I have no doubt that our great fraternity would grow in numbers not seen for generations and I believe in my heart that it will. History and in particular Masonic history has shown that it does find a way to evolve to meet the times, it just moves a little slower than we might like. Masonry has seen the invention of newspapers, TV, the automobile, the list can go on and on. Yet at each turning point in our society’s history, where men have more access to other avenues to fill the void of belonging to something greater than themselves, Masonry has found a way to evolve to meet the times, while still holding on to the practices and principles of our great fraternity. Our numbers have gone up and down over the centuries, yet we may find ourselves at our lowest point ever. I still believe in my heart, that we will find a way as a fraternity to grow. I believe this because of what we have been able to accomplish at Boca-Delray No. 171.
My parting advice to all incoming Officers, and to you all, is to respect the traditions, the officers and the ritual. Remember that we are part of an elite group of men who were selected to be initiated into the world's oldest fraternity. Remember a good Mason listens more than he speaks. Stand tall and upright as you were ordered. Set your efforts in support of the Worshipful Master and your Lodge. Participating in Lodge functions, however small of a part you play in supporting your Lodge, goes a long way. Remember that you are a Master Mason, at all times, not just at meetings.
My Brothers, this is my last set of “Words From the East” that I will get to write on the Trestleboard. Again, I’m humbled by the love from you all, and grateful for your support. I'm not going to lie, I will miss not being in the East and opening and closing our Lodge. It was a fun ride.
See you all soon
Fraternally

From the Secretary
Greetings Brothers as we welcome winter in Sunny Florida. As we wind down our
Masonic year at Boca Delray, we have accomplished much and to the credit of our
Worshipful Master Anthony Denton.
He tirelessly worked to draft and finalize the property sale. The funds from this
sale will ensure that our lodge is financially secure for years to come as well as the
many improvements the buyers will be performing on the lodge and grounds.
I would also like to show my appreciation to R:.H:. Sal Musumeci. He took being
District Instructor to a higher level. He tirelessly visited other lodges assisting
with their Degree work, Catechism and Ritual. Also Assisting with open books and
refining our floorwork and lectures. Brother Sal was born to be a District
Instructor.
If you missed our last Communication, you lost an opportunity of seeing Masonry
at it’s finest. Our Memorial Service in memory of R:.W:. Robert T. Langford was
offered with Honor, Dignity and Fraternal love. Brother John Langford was kind
enough to offer the lodge a small urn that will be placed in our “to be built
library” which will be dedicated to our distinguished Past District Deputy Grand
Master as he always envisioned a Lodge Library. Following the Memorial Service,
we ended on a cheerful note as recently Raised Masons received their Bibles,
Aprons and Working tools.
The first Communication in December will be our election of Officers for 2023. I
have no doubt that our newly installed officers with continue the fine work that
has been accomplished in 2022. Needless to say, there will be much to do as the
lodge undergoes renovations. We must continue to welcome visitors and
conduct Degrees but these are obstacles our officers will handle amongst other
challenges, good, positive challenges at that.
Of course I cannot submit a message without reminding all to kindly inform the
Secretary of any email, phone of home address changes and to please remit
yearly dues on a timely manner.
Fraternally,
R:.W:. Sinatra

My Brothers,
With the importance of education in the Ritual work of our fraternity, we are blessed to have such a strong District instructing team available to help. We are excited to provide a School of Instruction every Saturday morning at Harmonia Lodge including at Open Books every third Saturday (WITH A GOURMET BREAKFAST FOR $8.00) prepared by chef
Lou. We will also be providing a School of Instruction on the first Monday of the month at every MMA meeting. We are delighted and eager now to welcome ALL Masons, that includes Entered Apprentices and Fellow Crafts to Open Books with an RSVP to me from their Worshipful Master or Secretary of his Lodge. Please contact me if you have any questions, or comments, or would like information on receiving a proficiency card for
the hard work you have put in. We are also now in the process of putting together a District competition team in the Fellow Craft Degree, please contact me to join.
Upcoming District 25
Master Mason Degree teams
(part 1)
My Brothers,
The statewide Degree competition for this year will be held for Master Mason Degree (part 1). Our goal is to have multiple teams competing from the 25th Masonic District. These teams can be from each Lodge, or we can have multiple Lodges getting together to form one team. If you are not totally proficient in this Degree, please do not be worried. We will have multiple practices at different Lodges around the District to get everyone up to speed. At these practices, we will be having in-depth instruction on all the ritual and esoteric work in part 1 of Master Mason Degree as mandated by the Committee on Work. Any Master Mason in good standing is eligible to participate, and it will provide you an enhanced knowledge of the ritual and floorwork of Master Mason Degree as well as an increase in comradery with the Brothers of our District. Please reach out to me if you have any interest in joining the Degree teams and representing the 25th Masonic District.

From the District Instructor
My Brothers,
In order to improve your Masonic knowledge try taking the Master Mason 1 2 3 exams On the Grand Lodge website it’s an excellent method to learn to use the Masonic Digest and Mentors Manual. Just complete the three Master Mason Examinations, offered by the Grand Lodge. These examinations have proven very popular as they produce more
friendships, more knowledge of Florida masonry, better informed Brothers and an increase in Lodge attendance.
Also, they are MANDATORY for anyone sitting in the chair of Worshipful Master, Senior
Warden or Junior Warden.
Follow the instructions below:
1. Go to grandlodgefl.com

The Grand Lodge of Florida developed this comprehensive course of study to instruct Brothers on the proper procedures and responsibilities of each Lodge Officer, and how to conduct the important business of their particular Lodge. Courses are presented by the District Chairman, and a certificate is issued upon successful completion of all 15
modules.
The Grand Lodge of Florida provides Master Mason Examinations to be open book type exams designed to give any Master Mason the opportunity to increase his knowledge of some of the Ancient Tenets, Rules, and Regulations of Masonry. They contain a mixture of multiple choice, True or False, or essay questions which should be answered on the answer sheet, as provided in the exam downloads.
The Grand Lodge of Florida encourages all members of the Craft to further their knowledge of Lodge operation, especially those concerning the Elected and Appointed
Officers of each particular Lodge. The Lodge Officers Training program was designed to educate and test your knowledge of Lodge procedures, business, penal code, and other areas. Let There Be Light
